Ships diverted to Halifax during lockout returning to Montreal

Expect a busy week at the port of Montreal as some of the ships which called Halifax during last week’s lockout are returning.

According to the Port of Montreal website the OOCL Montreal and the Hanjin Montreal are expected to arrive on July 26. The Valencia Express returned to the port on July 25. The Maersk Petreas discharged cargo at Halifax on Friday was not scheduled to return to Montreal to pick up exports and will return to Europe.

The returning ships along with the regular schedule and backlog of over 1400 containers are likely to cause delays at the port. The Port of Montreal has not confirmed whether they will work later gates to clear containers off the terminal and normalize operations as quickly as possible
